Increasing surveillance on TikTok users recommended

Considering the misuse and harmful aspects of TikTok, the 'Standing Committee on Ministry of Home Affairs' has recommended to increase surveillance on the users of the app. In the 21st meeting of the 11th National Parliament on Thursday (July 21), it was recommended that the Ministry of Home Affairs issue a directive to the relevant ministries and agencies. The meeting recommended all law enforcement agencies to take more vigorous steps to implement zero tolerance policy against drugs and hundi, besides increasing surveillance on users of the app, taking into account the misuse and harmful aspects of TikTok. In addition to the member of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Md. Afsarul Amin, Samsul Alam Dudu, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Sultan Mohammad Mansoor Ahmad and Rumana Ali participated in the meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban presided over by Shamsul Haque Tuku, the Chairman of the Standing Committee. The senior secretary of the public security department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the secretary of the security services department, the heads of the organizations under the two departments and the relevant officials of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat were also present in that meeting. The meeting approved and confirmed the minutes of the 20th meeting. Along with that, the progress and implementation of the decisions taken in the last meeting (20th) were also discussed. Besides, reports were presented and discussed on the overall activities of the Immigration and Passport Department and the overall activities undertaken by the Public Security Department, Security and Service Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs and other organizations on the current situation of the country.
